What an incredible day! It was about 78F and not a cloud in the sky. After doing motorcycle maintenance all day Saturday, I was ready to ride Sunday! The day went something like this...

Woke up at 7am to wash the bike. I had to! I had spilled brake fluid all over the wheels and tires the day before and I needed to get it off before the paint started falling off. Of course, once the bike was clean, I then had to clean my gear. *sigh* So, by 9:30am, I was finally ready.

I met up with the TVSC at the 10am meeting spot on the corner of Jordan Lane and University Lane in Huntsville. A pretty good crowd of about ten to twelve had shown up to enjoy the day. We normally "chit-chat" for about an hour; however, the group was ready to ride! For once, we actually left by 10:30am and headed for the ride to Beersheba Springs, TN.

All went extremely well. The biggest thing I learned today was to get my body weight over the front tire through "the fast roads". Once I figured that out, I found myself going about 10mph faster through each corner. Unfortunately, I still can't hang with "the fast guys" through there. Not overly motivated to hang with them through that section; however, it does feel good that I know I'm at least acquiring some additional skills.

The funny part is that I had a new "max speed" on my GPS after going through the "fast roads". I wanted to see what I had accomplished through there, looked down at the GPS, and it said 1,043mph!!! Wow, that is pretty impressive, haha. Got to love computer glitches.

Beersheba Springs, TN was in good but somewhat rough shape. The heavy rains from Thursday caused the road to wash out in one spot. Unfortunately, the road was buckling underneath and some pretty scary looking cracks had developed. Beyond that one little spot, which was well marked with signs, the road was great.

After a few passes up and down the mountain, I had to head home. I ended up taking the "short way" home which saved me about 60 miles. Moreover, I discovered I can get home from Beersheba Springs in about two hours. Good to know when I have to be home by a deadline in the future, haha.

On my way home, I was gassing up and saw some sportbikes coming down the road. I was like, "whoa cool -- more sportbikes". Then, I realized that it was another part of the TVSC that had gone a different direction. I quickly finished off my gas stop and chased them down. I followed them mostly back into Huntsville before splitting off the road that shoots me back over towards my house.

In all, I only racked up 250 miles. I was kinda hoping to push my bike over the 19k mile mark; however, I didn't quite make it. I guess there is always next weekend.
